Beer at the Book Cellar
We offer a variety of fine ales from Belgian-style brewery Unibroue (based in Chambly, Quebec) and beloved brewpub Goose Island (located here in Chicago).

Honkers Ale

Golden sunset ale, 4.3% ABV

Inspired by visits to English country pubs, Honker's Ale combines a spicy hop aroma with a rich malt middle to create a perfectly balanced ale. A smooth English Bitter for those looking for more from their beer.

Pere Jacques

Warm molasses Belgian ale, 9.0% ABV

In the words of Brewmaster Greg Hall, "We were doing these great brewery tours of Belgium. We toured the best breweries, even the Trappist breweries, but we couldn't get into one of them. We were so determined that we kept calling until someone said yes. He was the Abbot and his name was Pere Jacques. He personally gave us a tour of one of the most beautiful breweries I've ever visited, and we finished it all off with a wonderful lunch of roast duck and wild boar, perfectly matched with the brewery's own ales. I'll never forget that day and that beer. We brew Pere Jacques with loads of malt and Belgian yeast for a wonderfully complex, fruity ale."

Matilda

Complex malty ale, 7.0% ABV

Brewmaster Greg Hall says "While traveling in Belgium, we visited an abbey that was surrounded by great legends and folklore. We were lucky enough to hear their story and enjoy the great beer they brew. We wanted to share what we'd heard and tasted, so we created Matilda. Matilda is made with a rare yeast that suggests a fruity and spicy flavor. There is complex maltiness balanced with a profuse amount of hops."

Blanche de Chambly
(blahnsh·deh·shahm·blee)

White ale, 5% Alcohol by volume (ABV)

Blanche de Chambly has an alluring pale golden color, effervescent foam and a subtle bouquet of spice and citrus notes. It is mildly malty, slightly sweet and refreshingly thirst-quenching.

Ephemere Apple
(eff·eh·mehr)

White ale with fruit and spices, 5.5% ABV

Ephemere Apple has an alluring pale golden color, effervescent foam and a mouth-watering bouquet of Granny Smith apples and spices. It is slightly sweet, slightly tart and refreshingly thirst-quenching

La Fin du Monde
(la·faeh·doo·mohnd)

Strong golden triple-style ale, 9% ABV

La Fin du Monde has a brilliant golden color with vigorously effervescent foam. It is mildly yeasty with a complex palate of malt, fruit and spice notes followed by a smooth, dry finish

Trois Pistoles
(trawl·pee·stole)

Strong dark ale, 9% ABV

Trois Pistoles has a dark brown color topped with a rich foam mousse. Its slightly sweet taste is enhanced by accents of roasted malt, cocoa, ripe fruit and dark spices with a smooth finish like old port.
