John McNally And His New Book "After The Workshop", And Also With His Author Friends Sam Weller And Brian Costello

John McNally (The Book of Ralph, America’s Report Card, Ghosts of Chicago) comes through town with his new novel After the Workshop, a "swift, wicked, and very funny book about what writers do when they're not writing. They're gossiping, scheming, pining, teaching, going on book tours, and - in the case of McNally's blocked and shopworn hero, Jack - babysitting more famous writers on tour and trying to think of a reason to live. The pace is brisk, the prose is buoyant, the vision clear and sharp, and the outcome unexpectedly moving. A fine novel."

-Kevin Canty, author of WHERE THE MONEY WENT

McNally is joined by friends and fellow writers Sam Weller (The Bradbury Chronicles, and in June, Listen to the Echoes), and Brian Costello (Enchanters vs. Sprawlburg Springs)

"How To Publish A Book" Seminar

The publishing Industry is facing changes. Digital printing, an increase in self-printers and traditional publishing model that has broken down make the choices and challenges for authors even more difficult. Finding the right publisher can be confusing, especially if an author isn't familiar with the 'business' aspect of writing a book.

"How to Publish a Book," a seminar with Lise Marinelli of Windy City Publishers, helps writers to better understand the landscape and to equip them with the information to choose the best publishing option for them.

Stephen Markley With His Humorous Meta-memoir "Publish This Book"

Join Literary Writers Network for a Special Literary Engagement with Stephen Markley, author of Publish This Book.

Fed up with the Byzantine quest of trying to get a book published, Stephen Markley decided to cut to the chase and simply write a hyperkinetic high-concept memoir about trying to publish a book-this book, to be precise. Like a mobius strip in book form, the concept is circular, self-indulgent, and maybe, possibly, hopefully brillinat.

Stephen will read from his newly released memoir Publish This Book. Following a brief Q & A, he will sign your very own copy of Publish this Book.

The reading is free; copies of the book will be available for purchase.
